Chef at Restaurant Miel
Passionate and hard-working is the perfect description of chef Hakim Chajar. Seduced by the kitchen from an early age, he eventually found his way into the ITHQ’s Advanced Kitchen Training program, of which he is a graduate.
In 2010, he was awarded the Grandes Relais et Châteaux scholarship, which enabled him to perfect his art in a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, including that of renowned chef Michel Troisgros. He worked in kitchens in Provence, Barcelona and California before coming to Montreal to work at the private club 357C, and subsequently the Laurie Raphaël with Daniel Vézina.
Finalist in the TV series Les Chefs! in 2012, and then winner of Les chefs-la revanche in 2014, he then became executive chef at the Laurea, before moving on, in the same position, to the Chambre à Part.
In addition to his work in the kitchen, Hakim is now a TV host. He was at the helm of the culinary competition La Relève broadcast on TVA, then presented the documentary series Hakim Chajar – Inspiration chef on Casa and TVA. He is also featured in the magazine that bears his name, a publication that offers readers fascinating insights into his culinary world.
With more than 10 years of experience in renowned restaurants, Hakim has embarked on a new adventure that is most definitely worthy of his talent: the opening of his own establishment.
It’s called Miel, and it’s on Rue Centre in Montreal.
Miel is based on an authentic approach that is very much in the style of Hakim. Its menu is inspired by his roots and draws on his technical know-how. The result is cuisine that is both accessible and refined.
Freshness of ingredients, creativity, precision of execution, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere are all expertly blended in a restaurant that is masterfully led by a passionate chef determined to offer a unique culinary experience.
Miel is most definitely true to the nature of its chef.
